Overview
There are many ways in which you can take simple action to protect Winchester's water resources. Smart landscaping techniques can include: the
- Installation of pervious pavers rather than concrete or asphalt;
- Drip line trenches to encourage rainwater infiltration at the edge of roofs;
- Stone swales to allow stormwater runoff to infiltrate into the ground rather than running down slope and off the property;
- Vegetated buffers along watercourses to prevent stormwater and pollutants from flowing directly into the water.
