The Laurel City Singers will present “A Sacred Spring” concert on June 4, 2017 at 2:00PM at First Church of Winsted, 95 North Main Street, in celebration of director Adam Atkins’ Connecticut Art Hero award.
Mr. Atkins was recently presented a legislative citation of appreciation by State Representatives Jay Case and John Piscopo on March 2, 2017 in Hartford. During the ceremony, he was named a Connecticut Art Hero along with eight others in the state.
Atkins is the Choral Director at The Gilbert School in Winsted. Laurel City Singers has been honored to have him as director for 19 years.
This concert will include “Gabi, Gabi” by William Powell; “A City Called Heaven” by Mahalia Jackson; “Ubi Caritas” and “Notre Pere” by Maurice Duruflé; “Confutatis” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart; “Mbiri Kuna Mwari” by Lee Kesselman; “Kyrie” by Jon Leavitt and “Praise His Holy Name” by Keith Hampton.
Tickets are $12 each for adults or $10 for senior citizens. They may be reserved in advance by calling 860-379-8966. There is also a family ticket available for $20. Regular prices will be charged at the door. Refreshments will be served following the performance.
