Wind Advisory and Severe Cold Weather Caution Issued

Emergency Management Director Steve Williams advises that a Wind Advisory remains in effect until 1PM today, March 2nd.  Up to 50MPH wind gusts can be expected this afternoon.  Mr. Williams has also advised that cold weather can be expected today as only a temperature high of 25°F with wind chill values as low as -6°F. Windy conditions are expected to be blustery, with a northwest wind 18 to 24MPH, with gusts as high as 43 mph.

Currently, Eversource reports approximately 8 customers without power.  Eversource is currently evaluating the outages and has not yet provided information on estimated restoration times.

The following local businesses are volunteering as warming centers during their normal business hours:

During activation of the State of Connecticut Severe Cold Weather Protocol anyone in need of Immediate Shelter can obtain assistance by calling 211 or by contacting/going to the Winchester Police Department.
