Winchester Launches Speed Enforcement Program to Improve Roadway Safety

The Town of Winchester has developed a new Speed Enforcement Program brochure to help residents understand the Town’s upcoming automated speed camera program and what drivers can expect as implementation moves forward.

The brochure provides an overview of how the cameras operate, why automated enforcement is being used, citation amounts, how citations may be challenged, and answers to frequently asked questions. The goal of the program is simple: reduce speeding, improve driver behavior, and make Winchester’s roads safer for motorists, pedestrians, cyclists, and everyone who travels through our community. The cameras are intended to supplement—not replace—traditional police traffic enforcement.  

Before enforcement begins, there will be a 30-day warning period. During this period, warning notices will be mailed to registered vehicle owners with a $0 fine, giving motorists an opportunity to become familiar with the program before citations are issued.
