Join us on Thursday, November 11 – Veterans’ Day – at the Soldiers’ Monument on Crown Street for a moment of reflection on the anniversary of the Armistice ending World War I, a special Soldiers’ Monument Commission honoring ceremony, and a reading of the Gettysburg address first presented by President Abraham Lincoln on November 19, 1863. Events begin at 2 pm. The monument will be open until 4 pm. Because of open windows areas during the continued renovations of the building, there will be no access to the 2nd and 3rd floor of the 131-year-old monument.
