UPDATE: Department of Public Works Director Jim Rollins reports that the current estimate for restoration of water service is 4:30PM on February 21, 2018. The Town of Winchester would like to communicate their appreciation for the continued patience of those water service customers affected by this temporary disruption.
Winsted Water Works has announced that a water main break in the area of Park Place West and North Main Street from Grove Street to Wetmore Avenue is causing a disruption in water service. Prep-work was commenced in advance of tonight's planned maintenance which has unfortunately resulted in the break. Water in this effected area has been turned off with the shut-off expected to last for approximately 4 hours. Additionally, Winsted Water Works has advised that when service is restored, water may be discolored for a short time. Should the condition persist, please contact the Water Department at 860-379-4101.
Please be advised that the temporary shut-off scheduled for this evening will not occur as planned. Crews currently on site are completing both the main repair as well as the planned gate valve repair.
