Winchester, CT — The tax collector is alerting taxpayers that there will be a delay in the mailing of motor vehicle and personal property tax bills. Due to the ongoing budget adoption process, bills for these taxes will be sent out after a budget is adopted.
The first installment of the real estate tax is expected to be mailed at the end of July with a due date of August 1, 2024. All payments must be received or postmarked by September 3, 2024, to avoid interest and fees. A second bill will be mailed for the second installment of real estate (due January 1, 2025) once the budget is adopted.
Additional reminder that the quarterly water and sewer bills also become due on August 1, 2024, with the last day to pay as September 3, 2024. If you do not receive your bill by the first week in August, please contact the tax office to request a copy.
The tax collector regrets any inconvenience this delay may cause and appreciates the public's understanding as we work to finalize the budget. For questions or concerns, taxpayers can contact the tax collector at 860-379-4474 or
