On Saturday, June 16, 2018, the Soldiers' Monument Commission will host celebrations to commeorate the Monument's Role as a WWII Air Observation Post. Celebrations will begin at 10:00AM with a WWII Living History at the Monument on Crown Street in Winsted. The WWII Living History will continue through 4:00PM with WWII Vehicles, Military Reenactor Displays, and Camp Life! Festivities continue with a Winsted WWII Canteen Swing Dance at the Winsted Elks Lodge at 75 High Street in Winsted. Doors open at 6:30PM, with a Free Swing Dance Workshop scheduled from 7:00PM-8:00PM. Dance is from 8PM-11PM. Music by the Al Fenton Big Band with Special Appearances by Bob Hope and Dawn O'Day!
