SEVERE COLD WEATHER PROTOCOL ACTIVATED
The State of Connecticut’s Severe Cold Weather Protocol will be in effect from 6:00 PM tonight, Monday, December 29, through noon on Sunday, January 4 due to unusually cold temperatures and strong winds.
Weather conditions are expected to worsen:
Wind chill values may fall into the single digits late tonight and early Tuesday.
Wind chills Tuesday night into early Wednesday may remain near protocol thresholds.
A much colder air mass is expected late Wednesday into Thursday.
From Thursday through early Sunday, wind chill values are likely to fall to zero or below in the mornings for many inland communities.
Residents are encouraged to check on neighbors, friends, and family members, especially seniors and anyone without adequate heat.
