On Thursday, November 5, 2026, the new automated speed enforcement cameras located on Route 44 Norfolk Road near the dry dam in Winsted will become operational. This marks the beginning of a 30-day warning period ($0 fine) for motorists.
Additional information about the Town’s ATESD (Automated Traffic Enforcement Safety Devices) program can be found on our website, and brochures are also available in the lobby of police headquarters.
Automated speed enforcement is one component of our overall strategy to reduce traffic crashes and improve safety for those travelling on our roadways. Police officers will continue to enforce traffic laws related to unreasonable speeds, impaired and distracted driving and failure to obey traffic controls.
