Residents who received their first dose of the COVID-19 vaccination from the FEMA-sponsored mobile unit on April 15, 2021 are reminded that the second dose of their vaccine is scheduled for Thursday, May 6, 2021 from 11AM to 6PM. The location of the second shot is again the former Bank of America building located at 44 Elm Street. Griffin Hospital is facilitating the scheduling process and 2nd dose appointments can be found here.
Additionally, Region 5 of the State of Connecticut Department of Emergency Management and Homeland Security (DEMHS) has provided the following useful information:
- Locations of walk-up COVID-19 vaccine clinics. Please note that there are walk-up locations available in New Milford and Waterbury, including the COSTCO pharmacy and at Brass Mill Pharmacy and Waterbury Arts Magnet School. They are also available in Farmington at the UCONN Health Outpatient Pavilion.
- Free Rides. For residents who face challenge with transportation to a vaccine site, rides are available through UBER, as a result of a collaboration between UBER, the United Way and Community Health Center, Inc. The donation is a combination of promotional codes, which can be entered directly into the UBER app, and ride service through Uber Health, a scheduling platform that will allow United Way contact specialists to arrange rides for individuals who do not have access to the UBER app. Connecticut residents can use these transportation options to travel to and from appointments scheduled at vaccine sites across the State. The Vaccine Appointment Assist Line is open 7 days a week from 8AM to 8PM. Please dial (877) 918-2224 to speak with a Vaccine Appointment Specialist who can help you schedule a COVID-19 Vaccine Appointment and access transportation assistance. From there, the Assist line will provide callers who are Uber users with a promotional code to enter into their Uber app. The promotional code is good for up to four trips (two round trips) to and from vaccine sites. Please note staff members can also help callers who don't have the Uber app.
- Free Internet for Those Who Qualify. The Emergency Broadband Benefit is an FCC program to help families and households struggling to afford internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic. This new benefit will connect eligible households to jobs, critical healthcare services, virtual classrooms, and so much more.
- Future Free Vaccination Clinics for Farmworkers. The Connecticut Department of Agriculture, in coordination with Department of Labor and Department of Public Health, is developing a strategy on how to expand vaccination availability for farmworkers, including seasonal and migrant workers, to reduce their risk of COVID-19. Farms interested in hosting a mobile vaccination clinic are asked to fill out one form per farm location. Vaccine clinics will be staffed by a healthcare organization and a representative will contact farms to follow-up on scheduling a clinic, if appropriate. Vaccination clinics will be free to all with no cost to the farm or employees present and willing to be vaccinated. Clinics will not be asking for insurance or identification. ATTENTION FARMERS: Please click here to complete form so that interest can be gauged by the State of Connecticut from farms on COVID-19 vaccination for your workers. Responses will be accepted through 5PM on May 10th.
