The Town of Winchester would like to inform residents and visitors that Highland Lake is scheduled to receive an aquatic herbicide treatment on Tuesday, July 14, 2026(weather permitting). The rain date is Friday, July 17, 2026.
This treatment is being performed under a permit issued by the Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (CTDEEP) and is designed to control invasive Large Leaf Pondweed. Managing invasive aquatic vegetation helps preserve water quality, improve recreational access, and protect the long-term health of Highland Lake's ecosystem.
Important Water Use Information:
✅ Boating, Fishing & Swimming: No restrictions listed by the applicator (however, as an added precaution, the Town recommends waiting until the following day before swimming).
⏳ Watering Livestock: Resume July 15
⏳ Drinking & Cooking: Resume July 17
⏳ Irrigation: Resume July 20
