The Town of Winchester Emergency Management Director reports that as of 11:15AM, 33 customers in town are without power. The Town is still in communications with the Eversource Liaison working to ensure that they have the correct information on blocked roads due to lines down.
Please be advised that Winsted Fire Station 1, located at 27 Elm Street, and Winchester Center Fire Station, located at 100 Newfield Road, have put out hoses for anyone in need of potable water and extension cords for those needing to charge cell phones. Additionally, Winchester Center Post Office is available for those needing to charge cell phones.
There are currently two roads that are closed due to downed trees, powerlines, and in one case, a downed transformer. Please plan to avoid Boyd Street at West Lake Street and Pratt Street in the vicinity of the 200s.
Moderate rain and flood warnings continue for much of the state. At 8AM, winds were gusting to 20–30 MPH at times. A flood advisory is in effect for Litchfield County. According to the State Emergency Management, power outage numbers appear to have peaked and should start falling in the next few hours. Minor to moderate urban and stream flooding can be expected thru late morning as the remaining rainfall combined with the melted snow flows into brooks and streams. There will also likely be a lot of basement flooding as a result of the saturated ground and elevated ground water levels. Urban and small stream flooding should begin to subside by noon.
The Emergency Operations Center remains partially activated and is monitoring the situation.
