Governor Ned Lamont has activated Connecticut's Extreme Hot Weather Protocol, effective Tuesday, June 30, 2026, through at least 6:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 5, 2026.
With dangerously high temperatures expected, the Town of Winchester encourages everyone to take precautions to protect themselves, their families, and their neighbors.

In addition, many local businesses throughout Winchester are air-conditioned and may provide a place to cool off while shopping or dining. Please support our local businesses if you need a break from the heat.
Heat Safety Tips:
💧 Drink plenty of water. 👕 Wear lightweight, light-colored clothing. 🌳 Limit strenuous outdoor activities during the hottest part of the day. 🚗 Never leave children or pets unattended in a vehicle. ❤️ Check on elderly neighbors, family members, and anyone who may be vulnerable to extreme heat.
