Extreme Cold Alert Issued by Winsted Water Works

Winsted Water Works would like to remind its rate payers that it may be wise to run a small amount of water through faucets during these extremely cold days and nights.  A rule of thumb is to open a faucet enough so that the water stream is about the diameter of a pencil.   This is usually enough to prevent freeze-ups in supply pipes as well as drain pipes within your home or business.  Please remember that Winsted Water Works is only responsible for the maintenance and repair of the water pipes buried under the roads between the curbs.  The pipes on private property and inside homes and businesses are the responsibility of the owner.

Should you have questions or require assistance, please feel free to call Winsted Water Works via Department of Public Works at (860) 379-4101.
