Background
To ensure the continued safe, reliable delivery of natural gas to its customers, Eversource is replacing more than 2,300 feet of leak-prone cast iron and bare steel gas lines in Winsted with newer, high-density plastic pipe – which is safer, more durable, and will last for decades. Since 2018, Eversource has replaced nearly 200 miles of aging gas main around the state. As part of the project, dozens of customers’ gas service lines will be replaced and a majority of those homes and businesses with inside gas meters will be moved outside.

The project is set to span from Main Street at Case Avenue to Main Street at High Street.
Total ARP footage installed: 2350 ft
Total services replaced: 29

Timeline
Start date: early May (exact date TBD) gas-in of the main is scheduled for mid-July. The project is slated to wrap up in early September. Schedule is subject to weather delays.
Outreach
A press release has been drafted and will be distributed prior to the job starting to provide more transparency on what will be going on in the project area. In addition, Eversource will be distributing packets of information to residents within the scope of work showing our area of construction, working hours, and point of contact for additional questions or concerns. Eversource is also in the process of having signage created to ensure patrons know that businesses are open.
