The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has issued a new schedule for the work on Coe Street.  Work will begin at Route 44 and end at Route 182 in Colebrook.  The paving work on Main Street will be scheduled separately from Coe Street. The new tentative schedule for Coe Street is as follows:

  • Milling to prepare the road for repaving will begin on July 26th and is expected to be completed the same day.  Approximately 600 cubic yards of the top surface of the road will be removed.
  • Paving will begin on August 12th and is expected to be completed by August 22nd.  Paving will involve repairing the surface after milling, installing a leveling course followed by two (2”) inches of paving to make the final course.  Bridges will be done separately from the main sections of the road due to the need for specialized equipment and procedures.

All work is expected to be done between 7AM and 4PM.

The road is expected to remain open during the work with traffic control personnel on hand to guide drivers through the active construction areas.

Please note that the timing of the work may change due to weather or other unforeseen events.

Residents and businesses should be advised that considerable disruptions are expected during this time.  Please expect noise and a significant amount of truck traffic associated with the work.  Folks are encouraged to plan for inconveniences now.

Preliminary dates for work on Main Street include the mill work scheuled to begin on August 12th with paving to begin on August 18thPlease note that these dates are subject to change.

The Town of Winchester will continue to update this website with additional information, details and schedule changes as soon as they are received from the DOT.
