The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has issued a new schedule for the work on Main Street. A Parking Ban has been issued for the overnight hours, from 7PM through 5AM, commencing tonight, September 9th. Said overnight parking ban is expected to conclude Monday, September 23rd.
Work is continuing along Route 44 in town.
Paving is expected to begin tonight, September 9th. Paving involves repairing the surface after milling, placing a leveling course and then placing two (2”) inches of paving to make the final course. This work is expected to be completed on or about September 23rd.
Please recall that all work is expected to be done during the overnight hours from 7PM to 5AM. The road is expected to remain open during the work with uniformed police and traffic control personnel on hand to guide drivers through the active construction areas.Timing of the work may change due to weather or other unforeseen events.
Residents and businesses should be advised that considerable disruptions are expected during this time. Please expect noise and a significant amount of truck traffic associated with the work. Overnight parking will not be allowed on Main Street. According to the DOT, cars found parked in the active work areas will be towed. Folks are encouraged to plan for inconveniences now. Please note that the lots of the former Bank of America building on Center Street and the lot adjacent to that are available for public parking overnight. Additionally, behind Town Hall and north of the Winsted Fire Department, on Elm Street, are also available for evening parking.
