Residents are being advised to take extra precautions as temperatures heat up this weekend. Please plan to stay hydrated and avoid becoming overheated as humidity is expected to rise along with excessive temperatures. The following locations have been designated as cooling centers for Friday, July 19th through Sunday, July 21st:
- Winster Town Hall located at 338 Main Street, 2nd Floor - Hicks Room (Friday 8AM-12PM)
- Blanche McCarthy Senior Center (Seniors Only, please) located at 80 Holabird Avenue (Friday 8AM-4PM)
- Beardsley & Memorial Library located at 40 Munro Place (Friday 10AM-6PM and Saturday 10AM-2PM) *Please note that while the Library offers shelter from the sun, it does not have an air condtioning system.
- Winsted Area Volunteer Ambulance Headquarters located at 655 Main Street (*Please note that the hours of operation to be determined based on availability of staffing.)
- Hungerford Emergency & Medical Care Lobby at Winsted Health Center at 115 Spencer Street (Friday 9:00AM to 9:00 PM, Saturday 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM Sunday 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM).
