With the July 4th holiday weekend approaching, many folks wonder where to find information on fireworks displays in the areas. Connecticut Office of Tourism is a great source of ideas and suggestions for local attractions including what to do and where to stay. Click here for the CTVisit website.
Please be advised that all fireworks are illegal in the state of Connecticut, with the exception of sparklers and fountains. The Town of Winchester Police Department remind residents that larger so-called "firecrackers", (including M-80s, cherry bombs, etc) are banned by both state and federal law. Please click here for Fireworks Related Statues and Guidance.
Our local Soldiers' Monument Commission is also sponsoring a Public Reading of the Declaration of Independence at the Memorial on Crown Street at 2PM on Sunday, July 4th. Members of our community are invited to join and participate in reading various sections of the Declaration of Independence. The memorial park grounds will be open for picnicking after the reading.
