Wastewater Treatment Plant
The day-to-day operation of the Wastewater Treatment Facility is under the direction of Alex Combes, Chief Operator. A process control operator, a maintenance operator, and a laboratory technician complete the single shift staffing. Some of the processes and equipment used in treatment include: an automated grit/sand removal system, five primary gravity sedimentation tanks, two anaerobic sludge digesters with methane gas recovery, two one-meter belt dewatering presses, an activated sludge system with single stage nitrification for conversion of ammonia to nitrate nitrogen, and a sodium hypochlorite diffusion system for final effluent disinfection. The dewatered sludge cake is loaded into roll-off containers and hauled to a D.E.E.P.-approved disposal site.
