This dedicated open space area available to the public is a partnership with the United State Army Corps of Engineers - Mad River Reservoir Flood Control Area, State of Connecticut – Department of Energy and Environmental Protection and the Town of Winchester (Winchester Water Company Conservation Easement Area) efforts in conjunction with the Land Use Department, Recreation Department, Public Works Department, the non-profit organization – Fit Together NWCT, Hartford Healthcare, and the Northwestern Connecticut YMCA – Winsted for providing passive recreation access to this natural resource located one mile from the center of downtown Winsted.
The Town of Winchester is currently working with multi-disciplinary Engineering firm,
Barton & Loguidice for the master plan to provide accessibility for passive recreation activities such as biking, hiking, fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing, bird watching, etc.
