Freedom of Information Act Requests

The Town of Winchester is subject to Connecticut's Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). The Town Manager's Office receives all such FOIA requests and directs them to the correct Town department.

What FOIA Covers

The Freedom of Information Act allows residents to requests documents that are kept by public agencies, including the Town, on a routine basis. The Act does not allow residents to request that new data or reports be generated. If you have questions, please contact townmanager@townofwinchester.org.

Make a Request

Click here to see the Town's fillable Freedom of Information Act request form. To request documents that are presently in the Town's possession, please fill out this form and return it to thall@townofwinchester.org. Requests must be made in writing. The Town will acknowledge receipt of your request within four days and return all requested documents to you within an amount of time reasonable to complete your request. This may vary based on the size and complexity of your request.

Fees

There may be fees associated with your request depending on the complexity of the request and whether you are requesting printed copies. For more information about the Town's established fee structure, please see the Town's Freedom of Information Ordinance. If a fee is required, the Town will not release documents until the fee is collected. A new FOIA request may not be made to the Town by a given individual until such a time as that individual pays all fees associated with their previous FOIA requests.
