Dear Residents and Business Owners:

Winsted Water Works has entered into a construction contract with Dayton Construction Co., Inc. of Watertown, CT to complete a water main project on Willow St, Case Avenue and Main Street.  This work is being done as part of the Case Avenue Bridge Replacement project and is funded by State Grants and through Town Funding.

We will be shutting down the water main on Willow Street from Street Number 115 to 230 Willow St on July 10th from 6PM to 6AM to allow replacement of the water line to be completed. During this work, Willow St will be closed to through traffic between Bridge St to Rowley St. Please plan accordingly.

Willow St will remain open for traffic to businesses.  Access will be provided from Rowley St and from Bridge St.  Again, there will be no through traffic on Willow Street from Rowley St to Bridge Street. Working at night should help minimize any impact on residents and businesses.

This interruption in your water service will impact all water usage activities, such as hand washing, showering, laundry, and flushing toilets.  In the event of inclement weather, we may perform the tie-in on the following day, or when weather conditions are favorable.  Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.

When the water is returned to service, there may be air in the lines and the water could be discolored.  If this occurs, the water should be allowed to run out of the hot and cold water taps in the highest part of the building until the air has escaped and the water has cleared.

Please call the Winchester Public Works Department at 860-379-4101 if you have any questions.
