Plans have been announced to put together two new committees to evaluate and make recommendations about current opportunities presented to Winchester.  One committee will focus on reviewing possible options for the redevelopment of the town-owned building located at 508 Main Street and one will focus on reviewing possible options for using the funds afforded to Winchester through the American Rescue Plan Act.  Residents who may be interested in becoming involved in the process are encouraged to contact the town manager's office.

The 508 Main Street Committee will include no more than twelve members and will include Town Manager Josh Kelly, Town Hall staff, a member of the Economic Development Commission, the owners of other downtown businesses and two residents. The committee will come together to discuss and consider possible highest and best uses for the property known as 508 Main Street.  This parcel was aquired through a town-initiated foreclosure resulting from blight conditions.  The 508 Main Street Committee will present their final recommendations to the Board of Selectmen.

The second committee, a Local Winchester Committee on the American Rescue Plan Act,  will consist of no more than ten members. It will likely include Mr. Kelly, Department of Public Works Director Jim Rollins, Social Services Coordinator Katie Vail, Recreation Director Tanya Risucci, Emergency Management Director Steve Williams, Finance Director Bruce Stratford, an EDC member and up to three members of the public.   This second committee will review all the possible uses for those funds as outlined by the Department of Treasury and will forward their recommendations to the Board of Selectmen.

If you live in Winchester and would like to serve on one of these committees, please call Town Hall at (860) 379-2713 or email townmanager@townofwinchester.org
