Promotion of Officer Justin DeVaull to Sergeant
The Winchester Police Department is proud to announce the promotion of Officer Justin DeVaull to the rank of sergeant. Sergeant DeVaull has served with the Winchester Police Department for a little over one year. Prior to joining us he worked for seven years as a patrolman focused on community policing with the Waterbury Police Department.
Sergeant DeVaull has been instrumental in our efforts to implement the department’s CLEAR program. CLEAR (Community Law Enforcement And Recovery) is a state-wide initiative of law enforcement, behavioral health, and community partners who engage in proactive outreach to positively intervene in a variety of social health-related incidents.
Sergeant DeVaull recently took the lead on reviving our police bicycle program and getting electronic citation software operational and e-printers installed in all of our patrol vehicles. He is an active member of our marine patrol and also plays the bagpipes.
Sergeant DeVaull holds a Master of Science Degree in Acupuncture and has over thirty-years of training and teaching experience in martial arts. He is engaged to his fiancé Jamie, has one son, and is a proud resident of Winsted.
A promotional ceremony to meet and congratulate the newly appointed sergeant will take place on Monday November 20, 2023, 12:00 PM, Town Hall, 338 Main Street, Winsted, CT. All are invited to attend. Refreshments to follow the ceremony.
