The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) is planning on repaving Main Street and Coe Street in the near future.  The project will proceed in phases.  The first phase, including the replacement of catch basin tops, is currently underway.  The next two phases will include:

  • Milling which includes the removal of the surface layer of asphalt.  This work is scheduled for August 13th through Augutst 23rd.
  • Paving which includes adding a new top layer of asphalt.  This work is scheduled for August 25th through September 3rd.

Striping the pavement for parking spaces and crosswalks will be completed shortly after the milling and paving are completed.

This road improvment work will be performed in the overnight hours from 8:00PM to 5:00AM.  Please note that it is likely the schedule may vary due to weather between now and when the work is scheduled to begin.  Updates will be provided as received from the DOT.

Residents and businesses should be advised that despite the work occuring during the evening hours, considerable disruptions are expected during this time.  Additionally, parking on Main Street will be restricted during the times that work is being performed.  Please expect noise and a significant amount of truck traffic associated with the work.  Folks are encouraged to plan for these inconveniences now.

The Town of Winchester will continue to update this website with additional information, details and schedule changes as soon as it is received from the DOT.  Please click here to sign up for announcements from the Town of Winchester.
