Dear Families and Staff,

This morning, the administration of Winchester Public Schools was made aware of a Facebook post from a parent expressing concerns about their child's safety at Pearson School. The post referred to a disturbing note written by a student. In light of the recent tragic events in schools across the nation, we understand the concerns of our families. We want to reassure all WPS families and students that safety is our top priority.

We are writing to inform you that immediate action was taken by our staff as soon as we became aware of this incident in which a student wrote a disturbing note. The matter was promptly investigated by school administration in accordance with WPS policy. A threat assessment was conducted by certified staff immediately after the incident. It was determined that there was no threat to the safety of any student or staff member at any time. This was confirmed by the Winchester Police Department.

Please be advised that in accordance with Winchester Board of Education Policy, all allegations of bullying or threats to students or staff are immediately investigated.

If you have any concerns, we encourage you to reach out to the administration of Winchester Public Schools to obtain accurate information.

I apologize to all for any concerns or consternation that this incident may have had on our students, staff, and community.

Feel free to contact me regarding any concerns you may have. Thank you,
Freeman Burr
Interim Superintendent
