The Connecticut Department of Transportation (CTDOT) has issued a new schedule for the work on Main Street. Work will begin at Route 183 at the Coe Street intersection and end at Route 183 at the Torringford Street intersection. Please note the new tentative schedule for Main Street below:
Milling to prepare the road for repaving will begin on August 25th and is expected to take five days. This will include two (2”) inches of pavement to be removed during the milling process.
Paving is expected to begin during the week of September 9th. Paving involves repairing the surface after milling, placing a leveling course and then placing two (2”) inches of paving to make the final course.
Please note that bridges will be done separately from the main sections of the road due to the need for specialized equipment and procedures.
All work is expected to be done during the overnight hours from 7PM to 5AM.
The road is expected to remain open during the work with uniformed police and traffic control personnel on hand to guide drivers through the active construction areas.
Please further note that the timing of the work may change due to weather or other unforeseen events.
Residents and businesses should be advised that considerable disruptions are expected during this time. Please expect noise and a significant amount of truck traffic associated with the work. Overnight parking will not be allowed on Main Strett. According to the DOT, cars found parked in the active work areas will be towed. Folks are encouraged to plan for inconveniences now.
The Town of Winchester will continue to update this website with additional information, details and schedule changes as soon as it is received from the DOT.
