The Winchester Police Department is proud to present our first ever pink police patch. The patch was made in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, as a reminder to all of our agency’s commitment to support local breast cancer research organizations in combating this devastating disease.
Pink patches are available for sale to the community and all proceeds will be directly donated to The Charlotte Hungerford Hospital’s Pink Rose Fund. The Pink Rose Fund provides financial support for educational outreach and screenings to assure that the women of northwest Connecticut have comprehensive, coordinated access to breast cancer services, programs, and treatments.
In addition, until November 11th uniformed personnel will be allowed to replace their standard shoulder patches with the Winchester Police Department pink patch and also have the option of wearing a pink undershirt in support of Hinsdale Elementary School Principal, Rosanne Field.
The patches are $10 each and can be purchased at Winchester Police Department. Please note that we have a limited number of these patches, and will be sold on a first-come, first-served basis. We will accept cash only and exact change is preferred.
Approximately 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. When caught in the earliest localized stages, the 5-year survival rate is 99%. Advances in early detection and treatment methods have significantly increased breast cancer survival rates. We hope you will join us in support.
